Din in Parishad over UP cabinet photo session at Kumbh

-

LUCKNOW : The Vidhan Parishad on Wednesday witnessed noisy scenes over chief minister Yogi Adityanath and his ministerial colleagues posing for photographs at the bank of Sangam in the Kumbh on January 29, prompting the chair to adjourn the house.

During the discussion under the Rule 59 that followed the Question Hour, Smajwadi Party’s (SP) Shatrudra Prakash raised the question of the cabinet members posing for group photo during and after holy dip in the Sangam on January 29. The act, he argued, was in violation of the United Provinces Mela Rules.

The members of the ruling BJP took strong exception to the SP move accusing the party of opposing the Hindu sentiments. The BJP also objected to the use of certain words by the opposition. Seeing the growing noise, chairman Ramesh Yadav adjourned the housed for 20 minutes. When the house reassembled, the chairman ordered deletion of objectionable words from the proceedings. The SPlater staged walkout from the house thrice. Earlier, the house observed silence for a few seconds to pay respect to former defence minister George Fernandes, who passed away recently.
