JOURNALIST­S AMONG 10 BOOKED FOR SHELTERING MILITANTS IN VALLEY

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday filed charge sheet against journalist Asif Sultan and nine other persons, including a woman, for harbouring militants and giving support to a militant outfits in killing a policeman at Batamaloo area last year. Police officials said that a charge sheet was submitted in the case registered at police station Batamaloo against Sultan and other accused. According to the state police, the case pertains to the incident of last year when militants hiding at a residence in Diyarwani area of Srinagar fled away from the spot after indiscrimi­nately firing at a police party in which constable Parvaiz Ahmad was killed. “The charge sheet has been filed for their role in hatching criminal conspiracy for terrorist act, harbouring terrorist and giving support to the proscribed organisati­on,” a police spokespers­on said, requesting anonymity.
