Vidarbha became the sixth team to win back-to-back Ranji Trophy titles after beating Saurashtra. Ranji’s highest run-getter Wasim Jaffer has played in 10 finals and won all. He was part of Mumbai on eight occasions before winning it with Vidarbha twice. Chandrakan­t Pandit has won Ranji Trophy as a player for Mumbai (1983-84, 1984-85), as coach of Mumbai (2002-03, 2003-04, 2015-16), Rajasthan (2011-12) and Vidarbha (2017-18, 2018-19).

Faiz Fazal is the 11th captain to claim two successive Ranji titles. Maharashtr­a’s DB Deodhar was the first in 1939-40 & 1940-41. Mumbai’s Bapu Nadkarni won in 1963-64, 1964-65 and 1965-66. Mumbai’s Ajit Wadekar did it twice in 1968-69 and 1969-70 and then in 1971-72 and 1972-73.
