SENSITISING SHORT FILM SCREENING SESSION

LUCKNOW: A sensitising film screening session was organised in Lucknow on Friday, as part of the Awadh Queer Literature festival inaugurated on the day.

Short films by ‘Queer Ink’ and documentaries by PSBT were screened on the occasion.

These highlighted the everyday hardships faced by the LGBTQ community.

The short film ‘Any Other Day’ created awareness around homophobia (dislike of or prejudice against homosexuals), portraying how societal norms were often opposed to the community.

Another short film ‘Cover Story’, directed by Suhail Abbasi, presented the perspective of homosexuals and the perils they faced. It showed how members of the community had to bear being judged and misunderstood all their lives.

The screening was followed by an interactive session helmed by Abbasi.

He took questions from the audience and several discussions took place.

Both the screenings and the interactive session were highly appreciated by the audience.
