ABVP set to increase political heat on campuses before LS polls

-

LUCKNOW: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of Bharatiya Janata Party, is all set to increase political temperature on university campuses across the country before upcoming Lok Sabha elections with its ‘Ubharta Bharat, Nai Aashayein’ campaign.

The campaign that started at Lucknow University (LU) on Saturday, is aimed at increasing awareness about progress that the country has made in recent years. “We must know the story of progress we have made so far to have a better understanding of political situation before elections,” said Ashish Chauhan, national general secretary of ABVP, who was invited as the chief guest at the function.

ABVP would hold similar programmes on university campuses across the country in coming months. “Our aim is to involve maximum number of youths with the programme before election so that they could take an informed decision about whom to vote. The youth of the country should vote that candidate they think is best. We don’t want him to waste his vote by pressing NOTA,” explained Chauhan.

Chauhan, in his speech at the LU, traced the development of the country and stressed on the ‘strides’ it has taken in recent years. “We have come a long way from being a just another developing country to a global force over the years. We must ensure that this progress continues,” he said. The event was attended by vice chancellor of the university, SP Singh and other ABVP leaders.

Chauhan also spoke on the increasing role of premier education institutes in the country. “India is the country with largest population of young people in the world. This is an asset that will accelerate development in the country,” he said.
