By 2022, free health ser­vices for all: Nadda

GO­RAKH­PUR :Union health min­is­ter Ja­gat Prakash Nadda on Sun­day said that free med­i­cal health ser­vices will be avail­able for all per­sons up to the age of 30 by 2022, and an­nounced “By 2022, all peo­ple up to the age of 30 will not only get free health check but also free med­i­cal treat­ment and for this our gov­ern­ment is trans­form­ing pri­mary and com­mu­nity health cen­tres into health and well­ness cen­tres and more than 20,000 health well­ness cen­tres have been made so far.”

Nadda was speak­ing af­ter inau­gu­rat­ing Guru Go­rakhnath Nurs­ing School and Col­lege of nurs­ing.

While crit­i­cis­ing pre­vi­ous gov­ern­ments on health is­sue, Nadda said, “Ear­lier cam­paigns were run to con­trol dis­eases af­ter the oc­cur­rence of dis­eases but the Modi gov­ern­ment is mak­ing such an ar­range­ment un­der which dis­eases are con­trolled be­fore oc­cur­rence. Ear­lier, dif­fer­ent poli­cies were made for dif­fer­ent health cam­paigns but the Modi gov­ern­ment is tak­ing ev­ery­one from dis­ease to no dis­ease.”

While enu­mer­at­ing the achieve­ments of the gov­ern­ment, the Min­is­ter said, “In the last four years, 118 med­i­cal col­leges were opened and 18,635 med­i­cal seats were in­creased.” Nadda also said that un­der the Prime Min­is­ter’s Dial­y­sis Scheme 1.5 lakh peo­ple had taken the fa­cil­ity of free dial­y­sis so far.

Un­der the Ayush­man Scheme, more than 11,80,000 peo­ple had ben­e­fit­ted within just four months. In pre­vi­ous gov­ern­ments only 61% chil­dren were vac­ci­nated but un­der the Modi gov­ern­ment, 85% chil­dren were vac­ci­nated and the tar­get for the end of this year has been set at 90%.
