Never faced writer’s block: Director Abhishek Chaubey
LUCKNOW: Film directors Abhishek Chaubey and Alankrita Shrivastava shared their experiences and insights with aspiring managers and cinema enthusiasts at the Indian Institute of Management -- Lucknow (IIM-L) on Sunday.
The occasion was a panel discussion organised as part of the institute’s first-ever filmmaking workshop and competition, ‘Taabiir’, put together by the IIM-L student community in collaboration with the India Film Projects.
“The objective of the workshop is to get an insight into filmmaking by arranging discussions on Indian cinema and the art of movie-making with renowned directors,” said a member of the media and communications cell of IIM-L.
Director Abhishek Chaubey of ‘Udta Punjab’ and ‘Ishqiya fame narrated stories about his style of working. He surprised many in the audience by revealing that he had never faced a writer’s block. He also shared how the plot for Ishqiya’s sequel, ‘Dedh Ishqiya’, was decided in an instant.
Alankrita Shrivastava of ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ talked about how filmmaking had never been done from a female perspective, something that she was striving to explore. Enthusiastic students and amateur filmmakers asked the duo questions about their critically acclaimed works.
A filmmaking workshop was also conducted by the founder of the Indian Film Project, Ritam Bhatnagar. It focused on covering various aspects of film production. The event, sponsored by the SBI, was attended by over 300 cinema enthusiasts.
