BBAU fraternity on ‘pen down’ strike today

LUCKNOW: Students, teachers and officials of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) will go on a ‘pen down’ strike on Wednesday, to protest the attack on the varsity’s vice-chancellor, NMP Verma, on Monday evening.

The V-C was allegedly beaten up by unidentifi­ed people outside his residence, near the university campus.

BBAU registrar RB Ram wrote to governor Ram Naik, home minister Rajnath Singh, chief minister Yogi Adityanath and DGP OP Singh in the matter. “The V-C was assaulted by miscreants in South City Colony at 8:45 pm ,” read the letter. “An FIR has been filed at Ashiana police station but no action has been taken against the culprits,” it read further.

To register protest against the police and district administra­tion, the university fraternity took out a march , raising slogans such as ‘Kulpati ke samman mein, hum sab hain maidan mein’. Students also demanded setting up of a police chowki near BBAU’s gate number 2.
