AKTU doubles PhD seats for Homi Bhabha research fellowship

LUCKNOW :Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, has decided to double the number of PhD seats for Homi Bhabha research-cumteachin­g fellowship.

A decision to this effect was taken during the education council meeting of the university, here on Tuesday.

The council has decided to increase the PhD seats from 25 to 50 from the new session. The council decided to provide Rs 5,000 to the students of master courses every year as contingenc­y budget, to aid their research expenses.

Besides, the university will also fund students, research scholars and teachers to allow them to attend foreign conference­s.

As per the decision, the university has decided to provide Rs 50,000 and 75,000 to master and PhD scholars, respective­ly, while teachers will be provided Rs 1.5 lakh to attended these conference­s.

To promote innovation, the university will conduct competitio­ns every year and arrangemen­ts have been made to give a financial award of Rs 10,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 5,000 for the top three innovators. The council has allocated a budget of Rs 3.45 lakh for the same.

In other decisions, the council has decided to finance students and teachers of the government colleges, affiliated to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, to publish their scientific journals.

The council will provide an aid of Rs 10,000 to students of master course and Rs 25,000 to teachers to publish their journals.
