Orchestra company worker shot at by husband in Thakurganj

LUCKNOW: A 35-year-old woman was seriously injured after being shot at by her husband in Thakurganj , police said.

The victim has been identified as Sonia who reportedly works with an orchestra company. She was admitted to the trauma centre where her condition was said to be stable.

According to police, she was attacked at around 11 pm on Tuesday while returning home from a friend’s place. The accused, her huband Mazhar, approached her from behind and shot her in the head. “Mazhar

used a .32 bore country made pistol and after opening fire fled from the spot,” said SSP Luc- know Kalanidhi Naithani, adding, “The weapon used in the incident has not been recovered yet. A police has been deployed to nab the accused”

Meanwhile, an FIR under Section 307(attempt to murder) along with relevant sections of the Arms Act has been registered at Thakurganj police station.

According to police, Sonia got married to Mazhar in 2016, seven years after divorcing her first husband . She had a son from the first marriage who lived with her Cops are probing the call details of both the accused as well as the victim.

According to their neighbours, Sonia and Mazhar had an estranged relationship. Mazhar reportedly suspected Sonia of having an affair. Police are investigating what incited Mazhar to attack Sonia.
