FIRE AT BIHAR GOVERNOR’S TENT IN KUMBH; MOBILE, WATCH BURNT

PRAYAGRAJ: A fire broke out in the tent of Bihar governor Lalji Tandon at Kumbh mela in Prayagraj late on Tuesday night, officials said. Three tents in Triveni tent city were gutted in the fire that took place at around 2.30am and it took three fire tenders and half-an-hour to douse the flames, they added. Chief fire officer, Kumbh, Pramod Sharma said, “It is yet to be ascertaine­d what triggered the fire. As per initial investigat­ion, the fire is likely to have been caused due to a short circuit in the tent where blowers and heaters were in use.” The fire erupted in a tent next to the one where Tandon was staying and soon engulfed his tent too. The governor was sleeping at the time of the incident but was safely evacuated by the staff.
