PM may lay KV Corridor Project stone on Feb 19

VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to lay the foundation stone of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Project in Varanasi on February 19, said an official. “The project is aimed at ensuring view of the temple directly from the ghats. For this, 271 buildings have been identified for acquisitio­n. “Of them, 240 buildings, mostly houses, have already been acquired for the project and 110 buildings have been demolished,” said a Kashi Vishwanath Special Area Developmen­t Board official. The buildings were flattened in the day and debris removed in the night, said demolition in-charge of the board Avinash Kumar. Kumar said the project will ensure good facilities for devotees and added that all the temples found among the buildings will be conserved and beautified as part of the project.
