‘Open pension accounts of eligible staff’

LUCKNOW : Chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey has directed all additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries and heads of departments to open Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) account of all eligible employees under the New Pension Scheme.

The CS issued the directives during a meeting with officials concerned here in Lok Bhawan on Wednesday. He also directed that in addition to the contribution of the employee, the government contribution would be from April 1, 2005, as per the mandate issued by the finance department that the interest on the principal amount and on GPF amount should be deposited timely in the PRAN account of the employees.

Pandey said that in order to make the New Pension Scheme more compatible, the finance department has issued an order for amendment in the National Pension System and also an amendment in the employer contribution under the National Pension System. Additional chief secretary (appointment and personnel) Mukul Singhal, additional chief secretary (information) Awanish Kumar Awasthi and others were present during the meeting.
