Ayushi, Sonam guide UP girls win in U-19 one dayer
LUCKNOW : A sparkling half-century by Ayushi Srivastava and a four-wicket haul by Sonam Yadav helped Uttar Pradesh crush Andhra by 63 runs to continue their winning streak in the Under-19 Women’s One-Day League at Golaghat on Thursday. It was UP’s third successive win in as many as matches, and now they lead the joint group table of Elite A and B with 12 points.
A trainee at the Multi Activity Centre under the tutelage of Yogendra Yadav, young Ayushi struck 100-ball 58, which contained seven hits to the fence as Uttar Pradesh scored 132 in 40.2 overs while batting first after winning the toss, at the : Golaghat DSA Ground.
Shobha Devi (19, 45b, 2x4) and Neetu Gaur (21, 26b) also made useful contributions. For Andhra, Saranya Gadwal took 3/32, whereas S Sailakshmi and K Dhathri took a wicket each.
Chasing even a moderate target never looked easy for Andhra, which kept losing wickets after losing opener P Pallai on duck in the very first over. M Durga (15), V Pushpa Latha (13), E Padmaja (11) remained the three batswomen, who could cross the double figure mark as Andhra’s innings came to an end in 40.5 overs.
Sonam Yadav remained the wrecker-in-chief for Uttar Pradesh, bagging 4/15 in her 9.5 overs quota with two maidens, whereas Anjali Singh had 2/12. Falak Naz, Shipra Giri and Juhi Pandey shared three wickets between them. Now, UP play their next match against Delhi on Friday.
