DEORIA TROOPER’S KIN SAY NO TO CREMATION, RELENT AFTER CM SPEAKS TO THEM

-

GORAKHPUR: Demanding a visit by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the family of CRPF jawan Vijay Maurya initially refused to cremate his body even as UP cabinet minister and BJP leader Anupma Jaiswal assured them of help from the government. They relented later and the last rites were performed at 11pm. “The chief minister should come here. I will say whatever I want to only when he visits us,” demanded his widow Vijay Laxmi, holding her one-and-a-half -year-old daughter in her arms.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath spoke to her on phone, promising to visit the bereaved family for the Brahmabhoj, the feast offered for peace of departed soul. Finally, the funeral was held after the district administration gave a written assurance it would meet the family’s demands. The demands included allotment of a petrol pump, loan waiver and naming a park after the jawan.
