Seven fresh swine flu cases in city

LUCKNOW: Seven fresh swine flu cases were reported here on Saturday, taking the total number of cases this year to 118. On Friday too seven fresh cases were reported while 10 cases were reported on Thursday.

Till now, cases have been reported from almost all parts of the city including Rajni Khand, RDSO colony, Kalki, Raja Bazaar, Husainabad, Sunderbagh, Vaibhav Khand (Gomti Nagar), Chinhat, Rae Bareli Road, Vishal Khand (Gomti Nagar), Sitapur Road, Vrindavan Yojna, Nehru Nagar, Alamnagar, Mahanagar and Jankipuram. “Extended winter this year might have kept the environmen­t favourable for the disease to continue,” said Dr Tripathi. In previous years, the number of cases declined in February but this year it had been the reverse, he said. “There is no need to panic. One can always follow preventive measures,” said Dr BKS Chauhan, CMS, secretaria­t dispensary. Preventive steps include avoiding crowded places and contact with identified patients.
