‘N-S corridor will connect Lucknowites with heart of city’
LUCKNOW : The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) officials said on Saturday that the North-South corridor had been strategically planned to provide connectivity to all major places of utility, commercial interests, educational institutes and recreational places on the route.
“Once the commercial run on the entire North-South corridor commences, the underground section from Hussainganj to Hazratganj will connect Lucknowites with the heart of the city, as the train passes through the vicinity of all the prestigious and popular markets, buildings, and government and non-governmental institutions,” read a press statement issued by the public relations department of the LMRC.
This section will also help decongest roads and bring relief from severe traffic snarls that have become a regular feature in the state capital.
LMRC officials said that passengers deboarding at the Hussainganj Station would have easy access to Lal Kuan, Burlington Chauraha, Sadar, OCR, Latouche Road and Aminabad.
“Residents of Hussainganj will especially benefit, as the Metro service will ease congestion around the densely populated locality, reducing traffic woes. The door that opens at Hussainganj Chauraha will connect passengers directly with Aminabad via the Hewitt Road,” said an official.
It was shared that there would be three exit gates at the Hussainganj station.
“These will open at the Tulip Hotel, Tripathi Mithan Bhandar (Hussainganj Square) and the CMS Headquarters,” said an LMRC official.
Passengers commuting towards the Secretariat, Bapu Bhawan, Lok Bhawan, Vidhan Sabha, Sahkarita Bhawan, and Aakashwani (AIR) office would also be able to easily reach their destinations from the Sachivalaya Metro Station.
“In addition, many banks, offices and schools are also very close to the Sachivalaya Metro Station,” said the official. There will be four gates for exiting this station. “Gates no 1, 2, 3 and 4 will open towards NRCB, Sahkarita Bhawan, Ambedkar Bhawan and Bapu Bhavan respectively,” he added.
The LMRC public relations department officials said that the Hazratganj Metro Station would hold a ‘special significance’ in terms of proximity to commercial and recreational places. “It will provide easy connectivity to the GPO, Narahi, Zoo, Park Road, Dar-ul-Shafa, LIC Office, Saharaganj mall, Lalbagh and Kalidas Marg. The biggest attraction will be connectivity to markets such as Janpath and Halwasiya and the numerous popular hang-outs there,” said an official.
Special ‘GoSmart’ tourist cards and detailed metro maps would also make the Lucknow Metro tourist-friendly along with being a safe and comfortable mode of urban transport, he added.
The Hazratganj Metro Station would have four gates -- opening towards the DRM (Divisional Railway Manager) Office, Mayfair, Church and LIC, said officials.
