A common thread binds all cultures, says vice president

Naidu lauds the efforts of PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath in making the fair a grand affair

PRAYAGRAJ: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu attended 30th Internatio­nal Yoga Festival organised at Parmarth Niketan in Kumbh on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he said it was astonishin­g to see how a common cultural thread ran across all our cultures.

“We worship the sun, the moon, the fire, the five elements, the four directions, and the source of life. Our cultural roots are almost identical. There is a common bond that binds us to the Mother Nature. We are reinforcin­g this bond at the Kiva Kumbh Mela,” he said.

Many tribal leaders from across the world are taking part in the Kiva Kumbh festival. Praising the gathering, Naidu said he was happy to be with all at the conference focusing on a sustainabl­e idea.

In his address, Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik shared several slokas (verses) from ancient scriptures.

In particular, talking about the Sun, he said all must be like the Sun that keeps giving life, light, and energy to the entire world.

According to Swami Chidanand Saraswati, president of Parmarth Niketan, the purpose of the gathering was to inspire the world to return to environmen­tally-friendly living and embrace indigenous cultures through the sharing of song, dance, storytelli­ng, spiritual practices, and friendship.

Participan­ts in the festival include tribal leaders, elders, men and women from the Amazon, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay, Chile, Peru and Brazil.

Earlier speaking as the chief guest at Yuva Kumbh Sammelan, the Vice President also lauded arrangemen­ts made at the ongoing Kumbh. He said the welcome accorded to people arriving in Kumbh was memorable and the welcome accorded to him made him feel proud that he was the Vice President of a country where guests were welcomed so warmly.

UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath in making the fair a grand affair. Naidu also performed Ganga Aarti and offered prayers at Bade Hanuman Temple besides visiting Akshaywat (the ancient fig tree) ‘Saraswati Koop’ and Patalpuri temple located inside the Akbar’s Fort.

In the morning, Naidu was welcomed by governor Ram Naik, chief minister Yogi Adityanath, cabinet ministers Sidharth Nath Singh, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi among others at the Bamrauli airport.
