Two men arrested for racially motivated attacks on the R&B singer have been released

1 Chicago police released two Nigerian brothers who were arrested for assaulting Smollett, saying they have new evidence to investigate as a result of questioning them on Friday

2 The Empire actor, 36, who is black and gay, was physically attacked by two masked men who reportedly shouted racial and homophobic slurs and told him he was in “MAGA country” when he was out to grab food in downtown Chicago on January 29

3 After setting the Nigerians free, police said there was “no evidence to say that this is a hoax” and Smollett “continues to be treated as a victim, not a suspect”.
