LUCKNOW: Authorities are mulling more multi-level parking lots to unclog various parts of Lucknow.

The first on the list are two parking facilities in the vicinity of Vidhan Bhavan. One is proposed on the land in front of Pratibha theatre and the other at the old Ayurvedic directorate next to it.

“VVIP vehicles are allowed entry into the Vidhan Bhavan and Annexe campus, but their escort vehicles and vehicles of their supporters are parked outside on the road in front of the Vidhan Bhavan causing traffic jam. Besides, there are many other offices on the stretch, and their vehicles are also parked outside. Hence, multilevel parking lots are proposed,” said SK Jain, chief engineer (smart city projects).

A parking lot in the Qaiserbagh sabzi mandi is also proposed to unclog the main crossing area. The three-storey facility would

accommodate 300 four-wheelers.

Another parking facility is proposed on the premises of the district collectorate. “A parking

facility at the district collectorate was long overdue because of the number of people visiting this place,” said Jain.

Officials said a parking lot is also proposed on the premises of the old high court. The huge chunk of land here could be beneficial to solve the parking problems of the district court and adjoining areas.

Besides, a multilevel parking lot is proposed at the Goonge Nawab Park in the congested Aminabad area in wake of the demands of local traders.

Funds for these parking facilities would be arranged under the smart city projects.

“All these areas are already congested and they need some breathing space, which can come after these multilevel parking lots come up. The project reports for these facilities have already been prepared.” added Jain.

He said recently home minister Rajnath Singh has laid the foundation stone for the parking at Nadan Mahal park. This parking would help in solving the parking problem of whole Yahiyaganj, Nadal Mahal road market.
