Youth held for shouting pro-Pakistan slogans

GORAKHPUR: A 26- year-old youth identified as Mohammad Khalid was arrested for shouting proPakista­n and anti-India slogans during a protest march organised against Pulwama terror attack in civil line area of Basti district on Saturday, police said. SHO, civil lines Chandrakan­t Pandey said Khalid has been booked under serious charges.

As per reports, the incident took place when the students and teachers of Begam Khair Inter College were taking out a protest march against the terror attack when Khalid insisted one of the girls to shout ‘Hindustan Murdabad’ and ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. When the girl did not pay any heed, he himself started shouting the slogans inviting anger of locals who beat him brutally. SHO, Pandey rushed to his rescue and took him in police custody. Later, BJP workers led by Pramod Pandey reached the police station and sought stern action against Khalid.
