A MESSY AFFAIR IN CHELSEA CAMP

-

THE SORRY BALL

His arrived with his ‘Sarri Ball’ style expected to lift Chelsea, but it is derided as ‘Sorry ball’ with the league campaign tottering and the Italian in danger of getting the sack from the club’s impatient Russian owners.

AWFUL AWAY

Chelsea’s away record has been awful this year. Last week’s 2-1 Europa League win over Sweden’s Malmo was their first in 2019, after losses at Tottenham Hotspur (0-1), Arsenal (0-2), Bournemouth (0-4) and Man City (6-0).

UNHAPPY HAZARD

Rated among the best in the world, the Belgium captain’s tense relationship with Sarri has hurt the team. The Italian feels the creative player is no leader and ‘needs to do more’ with Hazard set to join Real Madrid in the summer.

N’GOLO KANTE

Rated as one of the world’s finest defensive midfielders, Sarri forcing him into an attacking role has misfired spectacularly, leaving the player confused with the hole in the defence being ruthlessly exploited, none better than City.

CONFUSED CAMP

City boss Pep Guardiola heads the fan brigade of Sarri’s football philosophy. It brought him success at Napoli, but Chelsea players weaned on counter-attacking have looked confused with the elaborate build-up Sarri demands.

IMPATIENT YOUTH

Sarri has refused to play 18-yearold Calum Hudson-Odoi in the league, despite the obvious class of the England U-17 World Cup team winger. Chelsea blocking a transfer request to Bayern Munich has only frustrated Hudson-Odoi further.
