LUCKNOW: In a daylight heist, five men robbed the house of a retired PCS officer after holding him and his daughter hostage in Indiranagar on Monday.

The accused looted jewellery and valuables worth Rs 10 lakh along with Rs 40,000 in cash. Investigators suspect the role of the domestic help (who was employed recently) and his aides in the incident. The suspect is reported to be missing after the incident.

SSP Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani said, “The incident was reported from the house of Raj Kishore, a retired PCS officer. He lives with his daughter Prashasti Yadav and runs an optical centre from his home located near Munshipulia in Indiranagar. We have lodged an FIR and initiated investigation”

The incident occurred at around 1:30 pm in the afternoon.

Kishore told investigators that he was reading a newspaper at home when the accused barged inside and held him and his daughter, who was in the other room, hostage. “They pointed a gun at me before I could raise alarm and told me to sit quietly. They also tied me with a rope,” Kishore said.

Kishore was former chairman of the UP subordinate service selection committee.

The robbers then entered the room in which Prashasti was studying and tied her with bed sheet and pasted a tape on her mouth so that she could not shout for help . Later they also tied domestic help Mukesh. The robbers then scouted around and gathered all the valuables.

“They searched every corner of the house. They broke the almirah and took away Rs 40,000 in cash,”said Kishore . They also took away jewellery and other valuables worth over Rs 10 lakh.

The accused placed the valuables in a bag and fled from the place

In the meantime, a neighbour Vineet Dubey who lives next to the victim’s house, heard the sound of breaking glass and hammering of doors. He immediately rushed to the place but the robbers had left the house by then. Vineet untied Kishore and his daughter and informed the police. A unit of dog squad and forensic science laboratory also visited the spot.

The SSP said that a CCTV had been accessed by the police which showed that soon after the miscreants fled, the domestic help also left on a bicycle. The entry of the robbers was also seen shortly after Mukesh returned from the market and left the gate open. The officer said that Mukesh was employed in January and was not willing to share his residential address and other details.
