“I cannot do a miracle from above, the workers need to strengthen the party at the booth level and I need your support for strengthening the party in the state,” a leader quoted Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as saying during the meeting.
“We see former Prime Minister the late Indira Gandhi in you. Indiraji and Rahulji had begun their tours from the Bundelkhand region in the past and you too should begin from this region,” former union minister Pradeep Jain said at over an hour-long interactive session with her. Jain said Priyanka’s message to partymen was: “Those working against the party should be shown the door.”
The leaders presented a statue of Rani Laxmi Bai to Priyanka Gandhi, who said she was inspired by the erstwhile ruler of Jhansi.
The party’s Jalaun district president Shyam Sunder said Priyanka discussed measures needed to strengthen the organisation.
Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) spokesman Brijendra Kumar Singh said Priyanka discussed with partymen the steps that were needed to strengthen the Congress organisation in the Bundelkhand region.
Singh said Congress general secretary (west UP) Jyotiraditya Scindia would meet partymen from Mathura, Aligarh, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar Lok Sabha seats.
