Students interact with CDRI scientists

LUCKNOW :Students from government run primary schools interacted with scientists of Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) and learnt about cutting-edge lab equipment during an open interactio­n on the occasion of National Science Day here on Thursday.

National Science Day is celebrated across the country every year to mark the discovery of Raman Effect by renowned Indian physicist CV Raman. This year the theme of the celebratio­n was “Science for the people and people for the science.”

“We invited students from upper primary schools of Hardoi, Prayagraj, and Kendriya Vidyalaya Ghazipur Varanasi. This was done to give them an opportunit­y to understand what we do and answer their questions related to science,” said Sanjeev Yadav, scientist at CDRI.

The occasion was also celebrated in other research and educationa­l institutes of the city.

At Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, a programme was held on the theme of National Science Day. During the event, Venkatesh Dutta of the university said, “Science provides an advantage for the developmen­t of society in the era where knowledge is economy. Science for the people is a concept that emerged from the social and developmen­tal challenges that are playing a critical role in shaping our society.”

Meanwhile, vice chancellor (VC) of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) Vinay Kumar Pathak was awarded Kalam Innovation in Governance Award (KIGA). He was given the award during function organised at Kalam Centre in Delhi. He received this award from Vice President Venkaiah Naidu for promoting technology and innovation for the benefit of engineerin­g students of AKTU.

National Institute of Pharmaceut­ical Education and Research (NIPER) Rae Bareli celebrated National Science Day at its transit campus.
