LUCKNOW : Unidentified persons committed burglary at the house of ‘Jai Ho’ fame actor, Santosh Shukla, located in Jarnailganj Colony under Thakurganj police station here on Wednesday night. They took away cash, jewellery and other valuables worth ₹14 lakh, police said.

The incident took place when Shukla along with his family members had gone to attend his niece’s marriage at a resort in the city on Wednesday night. When they returned home at around 11.30 am on Thursday, they were shocked to see locks of their entrance gate was opened and house ransacked.

Shukla suspected insider role into the incident. “It seems that burglars were well aware of my house. They broke open only those almirah and trunks where jewellery and other valuables were kept while other almirah and trunks were left untouched,” he said. Inspector of Thakurganj police station, DN Mishra said, “Shukla’s apprehension about the insider’s role is true as burglars’ modus operandi suggested that they were well aware that all family members had gone to attend the marriage and searched the house thoroughly by staying back at least for two hours in the house.” He said that an FIR of theft had been registered in this connection on the complaint of Shukla and police personnel were scanning CCTV footages of the area to identify the thieves. “Shukla shared his suspicion point with police who visited the spot and probed the incident,” the inspector said.

“As per rough estimate, the burglars took away gold, diamonds and other valuables costing between ₹13 and ₹14 lakh,” Mishra added.
