‘Big handball events to take place in India too’

LUCKNOW: An overall developmen­t of game is likely to take place in India and other Asian countries in future as several decisions to this effect were taken at the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) Congress and General Assembly held in Bangkok on Thursday.

The meeting chaired by the AHF chief, Sheikh Ahmed Al Fahad Al-Sahah, not only lauded the developmen­t of the game in India, but also promised to support the Handball Federation of India for games’ promotion, including the conduct of big events .

HFI secretary, Anandeshwa­r Pandey stated that events like Mini National Handball Championsh­ip, Inter-District Handball Championsh­ips would be new additions to the events in India soon. “Besides this, the framework is also being prepared for the conduct of the handball league in the federation countries.”

“It is resolved at the meeting that handball should be conducted at school and university levels too so that the level of the game could be much better in the country.”

The 23rd Sunday Open Chess tournament will be held on March 3 here with the participat­ion of players in the age groups like under-16, 14 age and 10.

Murtaza Zain struck 56-ball 90, which contained 10 fours and three sixes as Shia PG College won the Jilani Memorial Cricket Tournament, defeating Islamia Degree College, at the Northern railway Stadium. SPGC piled up 150/5 in 18 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, IDC could make 94/6. Deepak Kumar took 3/5.

FINE VICTORY

Dhruv Cricket Academy (DCA) scored a convincing six-wicket win against NDBG Group in a league match of the Surya Trophy here on Thursday. Needing 112 in 21 overs, DCA reached the target in 19.5 overs, losing four wickets.
