Weather may take a swing soon, rain likely

LUCKNOW : The residents should not be taken in by the rise in day temperatur­e, as the mood of the weather may change a little in a day or two, the met department has warned. It has predicted light to intermitte­nt rain/drizzle on Monday that may result in dip in day temperatur­e.

The day temperatur­e in Lucknow is steadily going up.

On Saturday, maximum temperatur­e was recorded at 30.8°Celsius while minimum temperatur­e was just half at 15.0°Celsius that was a degree above normal.

In a span of four days, day temperatur­e in Lucknow increased by over 5 degrees. On March 8, the day temperatur­e was 28.3°C, three degrees below normal, on March 7, it was 27.5°C and on March 6, it was 25.6°C, four degrees below normal.

The forecast for Sunday is mainly clear sky. Maximum and minimum temperatur­e would be around 31 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius respective­ly.

The state forecast says weather is likely to stay dry .

Day temperatur­e has increased in several cities across the state . Allahabad was hottest with day temperatur­e soaring to 34.7 degrees, in Banda it was 33.6 degrees Celsius, in Varanasi (BHU) 32.8 degrees Celsius, in Churk 32.4 degrees Celsius, in Basti 31.5 degrees Celsius, in Sultanpur and Ballia 31 degrees Celsius, in Bahraich 30.2 degrees Celsius and in Gorakhpur 30 degrees Celsius.

“We are expecting the weather to change by Monday as there are enough indication­s that the city may experience light to intermitte­nt rain on Monday that will cause dip in temperatur­e,” said JP Gupta, met department director .
