Centre selects 724 dalit villages in UP, allocates ₹74cr
LUCKNOW : In a major push to empower dalit villages in Uttar Pradesh, the Centre had identified 724 such villagers across the state under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana for their overall developmen.
The Modi government has also released a budget of Rs 74 crore for this project to be executed by the Uttar Pradesh Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation . The list also has 11 dalit villages of the state capital.

be executed in dalit villages identified for the scheme,” said ,” Lalji Prasad Nirmal, chairman of the Corporation, told media persons here on Saturday.
Listing the development activities proposed, Nirmal said that clean drinking water, solar lights, primary schools and proper sanitation would be ensured in dalit villages.
“This project will bridge the gap in terms of development between dalit and non-dalit villages,” said Nirmal.
To execute this project, committees at the state, district and village levels will be constituted. Social welfare minister at the state level, district magistrate at the district level and gram pradhan at the village will head their respective committees.
The committee will also have representatives of various departments and six social workers. Nirmal accused the, Congress, Samajwadi Party and BSP governments of doing precious little for dalit villages.
He also informed that the Uttar Pradesh Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation had empowered 32.38 lakh youths with self-employment opportunities.
