Asmita Samman to 21 women achievers from Lucknow
LUCKNOW: Minister of state for women and child welfare, Swati Singh, conferred ‘Asmita Samman’ on 21 women of the town from different walks of life, on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering at ‘Asmita Samman’ programme hosted by PHD Chamber of Commerce, Lucknow, the minister said, “Women have more qualities than men. We are no less than men be it physically or intellectually.”
Meanwhile, state chapter chairman of PHD, Lalit Khaitan said that women empowerment would pave the path for prosperous society. “Women should also lead the tirade for their rights as there are several people in the society supporting their cause,” he said.
The minister said that women should strike a balance between home and workspace.
“Society has to change its mindset that we are inferior. We are no less than men in any sense,” she said.
Convener of Asmita Samman, Reena Singh said that it was an effort to recognise the contribution of women towards society so that others could be encouraged.
Co- chairman of the state chapter of PHD, Mukesh Bahadur Singh also hailed the women’s role in society.
“PHD chamber of commerce has been putting its effort for women empowerment. Women entrepreneurs have been increasing and more and more women are becoming enterprising,” Singh said.
The function started with the welcome note by Gaurav Prakash, co-chairman of PDF cham- ber of commerce and Industry, Uttar Pradesh.
Later, the Asmita awards were conferred on 21 women, including seven young achievers. Among them were also Manjula Goswami, head of the millennium schools Lucknow, Aashrita Das, principal, La Martiniere Girls’ College, Anjali Jaipuria of Seth MR Jaipuria School, Abha Singh social activist, Neelam Vinay, Prerna Kapoor, Geeta Khanna, Sujata Singh, IPS, Shailja Devi, Asma Hussain fashion designer, Shailini Singh Visen, Aditi Kumar, Trisha Neogi, Kantika Mishra, Aprajita Bansal, Jyotsna Kaur Habibulla, Anju Narain and Itishree.
