‘2-3 LAKH VISITORS’ EXPECTED DAILY FOR DEFENCE EXPO IN LUCKNOW

LUCKNOW: Secretary for department of Defence Production, ministry of Defence, Subhash Chandra on Tuesday issued directions for making the 11 th Defence Expo-2020 proposed in the state capital successful.

Chandra was in Lucknow to review preparatio­ns for the four-day Defence Expo, which, according to defence minister Rajnath Singh, will be bigger and better, scheduled from February 5 to 8.

Chandra also inspected the site at Sector-15, Vrindavan Scheme, where the expo would be organised.

Presiding over a meeting, the union secretary instructed officials to complete all necessary arrangemen­ts within the stipulated time.

“Be it traffic or security, arrangemen­ts should be made on a large scale for the smooth movement of national and internatio­nal level delegation­s, investors, producers, exhibitors coming to the Defence Expo,” said Chandra.

He also added that shuttle buses should be operated for the convenienc­e of people.

“Around two to three lakh visitors are expected everyday at the Expo. For outstation visitors, the government must also make available government accommodat­ion in case of shortage of hotels,” said Chandra.

Also present at the meeting, CEO, UPEIDA, Avnish Awasthi, said: “The state government is committed to make the Expo successful.”

Awasthi assured the union secretary that the Defence Expo would be successful and grand as the government has successful­ly organised mega events like Kumbh Mela, Investors’ Summit and Pravashi Bhartiya Diwas.

Companies setting up their stalls in the four-day Expo willing to invest in the Defence Corridor coming up in Bundelkhan­d will be taken for site visit of the land and select it for their project.

The 11th Defence Expo is slated to be the biggest till date in which Defence companies from all across the world and India will put up their stalls and showcase their weapons and defence related equipment.
