FEVER GRIPS STATE CAPITAL
LUCKNOW : ‘Fever’ is gripping the state capital as monsoon rains are withdrawing from the region.
Doctors said there’s a rise in the number of fever patients and this is happening due to a sudden change in day and night temperatures. “Before stepping out under the sun from an air conditioned room wait for minute in the lobby to allow your body to adjust to the temperature,” advised Dr PK Gupta, former president Indian Medical Association, Lucknow.
“Fever cases are being reported from across the city while dengue cases are also being reported from different localities,” said a health official. Areas such as Faizullaganj, Ashiana, Indira Nagar and Gomti Nagar are reporting fever cases. Fever patients are also queuing up before doctors’ chambers in hospital OPDs.
“A sudden temperature change disturbs thermoregulation – the process that allows your body to maintain its internal temperature. This results in fever,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, founder of Aastha Geriatric Hospital and Hospice.
“In past two days, there have been at least 10 cases of fever in the OPD, and with weather changing the number might go up,” said Dr Vinod Jain, senior faculty, KGMU.
