REQUEST TO SHIFT FORMER MINISTER

■ On Thursday, Chinmayanand’s lawyer Puja Singh informed the court about his medical condition and requested that the leader be provided Category A facilities in the jail as he had been a Union minister.

■ She said he was made to sleep on the floor and given food like a common prisoner. Shahjahanpur jail did not have proper facilities and he should be shifted to another jail in the state, she said.

■ On September 30, Chinmayanand did not give up easily. While pleading for bail before the court, he submitted that as minister of state for home affairs during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee regime, he played an important role to end the Bodo agitation and ensured the surrender of 2, 600 Bodo militants, reads court order.
