AKHILESH QUESTIONS SPECIAL SESSION’S RELEVANCE

-

LUCKNOW : The Samajwadi Party (SP), which stayed away from the special session of the Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday and Thurs day, held a demonstration at the statue of Chaudhary Charan Singh at the Vidhan Bhawan in the evening on Thursday. Party’s national president Akhilesh Yadav in a statement said: “Chanting Gandhi’s name, those very people who refused to accept Gandhi as the Father of the Nation went around garlanding his statues. What’s the point in running a 36-hour session and what did it achieve. People should be made aware if there was any relevance of the session.”

At the demonstration, the SP legislators shouted anti-government slogans and criticised it for attempting to “encash Gandhi now”. They held placards that read: “In these times of Godse, I am with Gandhi; while all those who were behind Gandhi’s killing are with Godse”, “Stop politicisation of CBI, ED”, etc.
