DEHRADUN: Army chief General Bipin Rawat on Sunday said advanced landing facilities will be created in high altitude bordering areas of Uttarakhand as suggested by chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.

Gen Rawat said the Army and the Air Force will extend all possible help to the state government to boost connectivity, communication and infrastructural facilities in bordering areas of the Himalayan state.

He said this at second edition of Raibar, a function organised jointly by the state government with a media house on theme of initiating steps to develop hilly areas and stop migration from hills and bring people back to their roots. The function is part of Uttarakhand’s week-long foundation day celebrations.

The army chief said Uttarakhand is the land of brave people. “Thousands of soldiers from this sacred land have sacrificed their lives for the country,” he said.

Talking about the immense potential of Uttarakhand, Gen Rawat said that people from the state who have made it big in different sectors across the world should come to their state and share their experiences and ideas regarding entrepreneurship with the youth here.

Gen Rawat and CM Trivendra Singh Rawat also honoured 30 war widows and mothers of martyred soldiers on the occasion.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath in his address said for last two years he has been resolving the issues between Uttarakhand and UP, that have been pending for last 17 years. He said rest of the issues between the two states will also be resolved with talks.

Adityanath said he has returned to Tehri after 33 years, recalling that he had passed his high school from here. He also appealed to the people from the state living elsewhere to return to the state at least once a year and share their experiences with the people here, and become the guiding force for the youngsters in the Himalayan state.

CM Trivendra Singh Rawat spoke about the initiatives the state government was taking to ensure holistic development of Uttarakhand with focus on local employment. He also said that the state government has started many schemes and projects to check migration and encourage people to start their own ventures in different sectors here.
