LAWYERS END STRIKE FOR NOW, DEMAND ACTION AGAINST POLICE
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday, for the first time, commented on the recent clash between lawyers and Delhi Police officials at Tis Hazari court, observing there were problems from both sides and that “nobody claps with one hand”. The Bar Council of India said it has “put on hold” the lawyers’ strike in Delhi’s district courts for 10 days but threatened a nationwide stir if no action is taken against police officers who were allegedly involved in the clashes. Two new videos of last week’s clash between the police and lawyers surfaced on social media on Friday. One of the videos purportedly shows a senior woman police officer pleading with a crowd of lawyers as they charge towards her. It prompted the NCW to condemn the incident.
