Man ‘shot’ at, police doubt claim

LUCKNOW: A 30-year-old man was shot at in the abdomen by a bikeborne assailant under Thakurganj police station limit on Sunday, police said.

Station house officer , Thakurganj police station, Pramod Kumar Mishra said, “One Nadeem was returning home from the market in the afternoon when a man shot at him. We have registered a case regarding the matter and initiated investigat­ion.”

As per the complaint, the assailant on the motorbike stopped beside him to ask directions and then shot him in the abdomen. The bullet injured the left side of his abdomen. He assailant was wearing a helmet so Nadeem could not identify him.

Nadeem was rushed to the hospital for medical care. According to police, the bullet was not found inside his body in X-ray examinatio­n.

The investigat­ors are doubting Nadeem’s claim and waiting for the detailed medical report to ascertain whether or not he was shot at . Meanwhile, they have lodged an FIR of attempt to murder (Section 307 IPC) on the basis of the complaint. Nadeem’s elder brother has a dispute with his in-laws and he has suspected their role in the attack. Investigat­ors are probing the matter.

TWO BOYS CRITICAL AFTER ELECTROCUT­ION

Two children, aged seven and eight, sustained severe burn injuries after a fire caused by sparking in overhead high tension wire, fell on them in a field at Hulas Khera village under Bnathara police station area of Lucknow on Sunday.

Sunny and Vineet Rawat of Hulaskhera village were badly injured while playing in a field when a fireball from the high tension wires, passing on the top of the field, fell on them, according to the family members the boys.

The villagers after the incident rushed the boys to the Civil hospital where the condition of both was stated to be critical. Family members have lodged a complaint with the police in this connection.

However, UPPCL officials claimed that the electrocut­ion might have caused due to short circuit causing by a ball or any other object hitting the wires. Meanwhile, general manager (GM), LESA, Madhukar Varma said, “A probe has been ordered in this regard and we will act once the report comes.”
