Harjeet guides HSCC enter final

LUCKNOW :Opener Harjeet Singh slammed a sparkling century to help Delhi’s Hari Singh Cricket Club enter final of the 15th All India Major Amiya Tripathi Cricket Tournament, defeating Lal Bahadur Shastri Club of Delhi by 36 runs in Fazilnagar on Friday.

Singh stroked 81-ball 113 with the help of 11 fours and eight sixes and lit the Raj Malati Stadium

on fire as HSCC piled up 302/6 in 35 overs after being sent in. Singh along with fellow opener Sagar Kalyan (24, 32b, 2x4, 1x6), added 82-run for the first wicket.

Anubhav Ahuja (63, 33b, 8x4, 4x6), Deepak Chandi (29) and Chandrapal Saini (23) also made useful contributi­ons. For LBSC, Ansh Chaudhary took 3/51, whereas Vikas Dixit made 2/43.

LBSC too had a fine start in reply as openers Rishabh Drall and Apporv Dwivedi (26) stitched together 70 runs for the first wicket. Drall though smashed 94-ball 138 with the help of 16 fours and seven sixes, LBSC could make 266/9 in 35 overs. Suraj Vashisth (30) was the other main scorers. Deepak Chandila took 2/18 for the winners.

On Saturday, HSCC will take on local outfits Azad Sports in the final.

Afreen struck five goals, including a hat-trick as spirited Lucknow

defeated Aligarh 8-0 in the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Senior Women’s Football Tournament, at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Friday.

Afreen scored in the 12th, 19th, 28th , 38th and 55th minutes, respective­ly as Lucknow eves dominated the proceeding­s from the very start.

Kavita Yadav scored in the 32nd and 51st minutes, whereas Elena shot one goal in the 48th minute.
