ALIGARH The Aligarh Muslim University will reopen in a phased manner after the winter vacation, as per past practice. In view of pre- poned winter vacation, the PhD scholars have been allowed extension of time for submission of thesis.

According to the Controller of Examinations, Mujib Ullah Zuberi, the detailed schedule to this effect will be notified later. Zuberi has advised the students to visit the website to get further details in this regard.

The PRO cell of AMU further informed that all the PhD scholars of the Aligarh Muslim University whose maximum duration of course, five years or six years with extension, had come to an end with December 15 last, and who had not been able to submit their theses due to vacation in the university, could now submit the same in the next two months’ time. However, security measures were in place and circle officer (III) Anil Samania was present with force at the AMU Circle. “Elaborate security arrangements are being made for peaceful Juma (Friday) namaz and sufficient force is available,” said SP City Abhishek Kumar.

State police, RAF and PAC staged a flag march in the lock city on Thursday evening as a confidence-building measure.

The internet services were available on Thursday but according to sources they might be suspended on Friday to stop spreading of rumours or provocative statements on social media.
