DGP for making asset declaration mandatory for PPS officials every year
LUCKNOW : Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh has shot off a letter to the state government to make declaration of sale and purchase of properties mandatory for Pradesh Police Service (PPS) cadre and non-gazetted employees of the police department.
Mandatory declaration of properties owned, received as gift or lease, or any other movable and immovable asset of the employees and their spouses, dependents or family members at the time of appointment and after every year has been proposed, reads a press communique issued by the police headquarters here.
It said that Indian Police Services (IPS) officials were supposed to give details of all the asset they own by January 15 every year. For PPS officers, police rules in UP mandated it every five years.
It has been noticed time and again that cops and other employees were not following the norms properly, hence the need of strict implementation of these rules have risen, the communique read.
This letter is seen as an effort to make those employees and PPS officials who are not adhering to the mandatory asset declaration as per the police rules fall in line.
“If the government accepts the DGP’s submission, PPS and other police department staff will have to furnish details of sale and purchase of assets annually like an IPS official,” said a senior police official.
THIS LETTER IS SEEN AS AN EFFORT TO MAKE THOSE PPS OFFICIALS WHO ARE NOT ADHERING TO THE MANDATORY ASSET DECLARATION AS PER THE POLICE RULES, FALL IN LINE.
