Man, two others booked for alleged killing of infant

LUCKNOW: Three people, including his father, were booked for the alleged murder of a one-monthold boy in Arjunganj locality under Gosaiganj police station here on Monday night, cops said.

Police said the infant’s maternal grandfathe­r accused the boy’s father and his two other family members of murdering the infant by torturing and drowning him on intervenin­g night of Sunday and Monday.

According to the FIR, the complainan­t Ram Rang Pandey of Gonda accused his son-in-law Lavlesh Dwivedi, his brother Dinesh Dwivedi and his wife Pragya Dwivedi for killing his grandson. The case against them was lodged under IPC section 302 with Gosaiganj police station.

Inspector of Gosaiganj police station, DK Upadhyaya said the complainan­t told police that his daughter Beena Pandey was married to Lavlesh on March 10, 2016. “The couple’s relation remained strain since beginning of their marriage as the woman accused her husband of having extramarti­al affair with his brother’s wife. Lavlesh, his brother and his wife tortured his daughter continuous­ly for opposing them,” the police officer said.

According to the complainan­t, the three accused beat up his daughter twice so badly that she was treated at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Trauma centre of King George Medical University on April 9, 2019 and July 10, 2019. He said her daughter had even lodged an FIR of domestic violence with Gosainganj police station on December 27, 2019.
