UPSRTC drivers told to report suspected cases
LUCKNOW : The UPSRTC has issued instructions to regional managers of Agra, Lucknow, Noida and Ghaziabad to prepare a workable implementation plan for mopping/fumigation of buses coming from states and areas reporting “positive cases”.
UPSRTC MD Raj Shekhar said drivers and conductors have been asked to observe and report passengers with suspected symptoms for taking required steps for effective handling.
“Such a measure will help identify cases even as they travel,” said Association of International Doctors (AID) secretary-general and Aastha Geriatric Hospital founder Abhishek Shukla.
The UPSRTC will also launch a public awareness campaign for containing the spread of coronavirus effectively. Shekhar said the UPSRTC will use its public address system at bus stations for continuous relay of audio messages about the do’s and don’ts of coronavirus spread. The UPSRTC will use its passenger information systems, LED and LCD displays to play videos about coronavirus containment continuously for the next 15 days. All drivers and conductors will be made aware about containing coronavirus spread in their daily briefing and counselling sessions at all bus stations, and also to spread the message to passengers for the next 15 days on a priority basis.
The regional managers and ARMs have been directed to distribute prescribed masks to staff and employees of bus stations who are in public places for most of the time. Additional handwashing facilities with disinfectant will be made available at all bus stations in the next two or three days.
