Model from Guwahati accuses top Kanpur builder of rape

KANPUR: A Guwahati-based model was allegedly raped in the bungalow of a leading real estate developer here, police said.

She has filed an FIR of rape and assault with Gwaltoli police naming six people, including builders Amit Agarwal, Sameer Agarwal, Saksham Sahu, guards Manoj and Shubham and one unidentified person.

SPofKanpur WestAnilKumar said the victim had been sent for medical examination and she would be presented in court to record her statement under section 164 of Cr PC.

“We have registered a case of rape and have taken four people into custody; efforts are being made to arrest the main accused Amit Agarwal,” he said.

The model, 25, was in Kanpur to attend a party one of the accused Saksham Sahu had thrown at a water park in Kanpur suburbs. On way back from the party, instead of dropping her to the hotel, she was taken to Sameer Agarwal’s bungalow by Amit Agarwal, who was accompanied by owner of an apparel store, according to the FIR.

The guards, she said in the FIR, locked the gates and Amit Agarwal allegedly forced himself on her causing injuries to her private parts. The victim said Agarwal was under heavy influence of liquor. She said she then began screaming and ran out of the house from the other door and managed to come on the main road. Her screams attracted the locals, who helped her and called the police. Meanwhile, the role of SHO of Gwaltoli police Vijay Shankar Pandey has come under scrutiny as he is said to have helped the house inmates, including a few accused, run away.

In addition, he kept the information about the incident to himself more than three hours, said an official.
