LUCKNOW: In its battle against coronavirus, the state government on Monday decided to procure more thermal imaging devices for scanning crowded places, international borders and other important places.

“Yes, we are procuring more thermal imaging devices, thermal scanners and hand held guns for use at airports, Indo-Nepal border, crowded places and other important points. Such scanners will be given to health officials and used wherever needed,” said chief secretary RK Tiwari on phone.

When asked if the state government will consider deploying the thermal scanners at entry points of the state secretariat, Tiwari said no such decision had been taken as the secretariat had only limited entry.

“Health officials will take a call on using thermal scanners and hand-held thermal devices,” said Tiwari. Uttar Pradesh Sachivalya Sangh has, meanwhile, demanded that the thermal guns be deployed at the entry gates of the state secretariat.

“We have demanded installation of thermal scanners/guns at the entry gates to check entry of suspected carriers to the state secretariat as is being done in the Supreme Court. We have also demanded that sanitisers be made available in the secretariat washrooms,” said Sangh president Yadvendra Mishra.
