Students write LU annual examination wearing masks
LUCKNOW: The annual examination of Lucknow University (LU) began in sanitised rooms under strict vigil on Monday.
“A total of 2334 students appeared for their exams on the first day. Special arrangements were in place to limit gathering of students and ensure safety,” said Durgesh Srivastav , LU spokesman.
The university decided to go ahead with the annual examination amidst the scare of Covid-19 outbreak as per the state government directive.
The government announced to stop all educational activities but decided to permit scheduled examinations.
The PhD entrance examination of the university also started from Monday as per schedule.
The university administration put in measures for safety in view of the Covid-19 scare. All benches, chairs, door knobs, hand rails will be sanitised before exams using alcohol based sanitisers.
Napkins will kept in every exam hall and a separate pedal dustbin will be there to dispose of used napkins.
Meanwhile, a group of teachers from aided colleges of Lucknow
University staged a protest, demanding to postpone the examination in view of the Covid-19 spread.
The students who appeared for exams also expressed worry. Divya Singh, a student who appeared for the exam said, “We are worried about the coronavirus. My parents dropped me for the exam. It is suggested to remain away from crowd but it not possible when you have to appear for exam.”
Divya appeared for the exam wearing a mask like several other students.
