Cow smuggler shot dead in encounter, two police constables injured

AGRA : The Mathura police shot dead a man allegedly involved in smuggling of cows while two other accused were injured. The encounter took place in Chata area of Mathura district on Monday morning. Two police constables were also injured. A search has gegun for the two absconding accused .

Inspector general of Agra range A Satish Ganesh visited the spot where the encounter took place .

“This encounter took place between Mathura police and accused involved in cow smuggling. One of the accused identified as Afsar from Kansari village under Nagina police station of Mewat in Haryana was shot dead,” informed the IG .

“Two others, including Billu from Nuh (Mewat) and Yunus also from Nuh in Haryana were seriously injured in police firing. They are undergoing treatment at KD Hospital in Mathura,”’ he said .

“Police nabbed two other accused namely Irfan and Sadiq both from village Utawad under Hathin police station of Palwal in Haryana. A search has begun for the two absconding accused,” he said.

Police recovered a Max Bolero pick-up and illegal arms and got six cows released from the vehicle now seized.

The vehicle used by the accused had a fake registrati­on number.

In the police encounter, two police constables including Mahendra Singh and Rahul Baliyan got injured.

They were also admitted to KD Medical College in Chata area of Mathura. Police authoritie­s also met these police constables .
