Medico on cycle expedition to raise awareness about HIV

MEERUT: Anil Naushran, a medical practition­er in pathology and detection of HIV, took up cycle expedition two years ago and dedicated self to promoting awareness about importance of medical horoscope and prevention from HIV.

He is now on a similar expedition from March 14, it will conclude at the governor house in Mumbai via Agra, Gwalior, Indore and Mumbai.

Naushran has cycled to far off destinatio­ns in the country, including Mussorie, Shimla, Kolkata, Ayodhya and many other places, and while passing through different cities and towns, he has explained it to hundreds of people that medical horoscope contains detail about a person’s genetic, behavioura­l and cycologica­l disorders and history of diseases.

So, it is particular­ly useful for those families having disabled children and thalesimia patient.

For Naushran, it became a turning point in his life when he tested a 21-year-old, newly married man positive of HIV. He said “It was a deep shock for me. My daughter is also of similar age, hence it jolted me all the more.”

Naushran had bought a cycle to keep himself fit and healthy but this incident forced him to think beyond it and he linked his passion with social cause.

Naushran said that being a medico has helped him a lot, the district units of Indian Medical Associatio­ns (IMA) enroute his expedition­s have also always been supportive.

West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankar appreciate­d his efforts during his visit to Kolakata and encouraged him. Naushran has planned his next cycle expedition to Mumbai.

50-year-old Naushran, who originally hails from Nangal town of Saharanpur is an alumnus of Kanpur medical college.
