164 Jamaatis, their 185 contacts traced to Lko

LUCKNOW:After 12 days of intense search, the Lucknow police on Saturday claimed to have identified all 164 Tablighi Jamaat members who participat­ed in religious congregati­on at Delhi’s Nizamuddin or at other places in the state.

However, the data of 121 other people who have come in their contacts during their stay at different places in Lucknow are also being collected. A senior Lucknow police officer said all identified 164 Tablighi Jamaat members had either been quarantine­d in Lucknow or in Delhi.

He said 136 of the total members had come to Lucknow from outside the state to attend religious congregati­on of Tablighi Jamaat while 28 Lucknow residents visited the Tablighi Jamaat headquarte­rs at Delhi’s Nizamuddin which emerged as one of the biggest Covid-19 hot spots in India after March 1. He said a s many as 185 people who were in close contacts with the Tablighi Jamaat members had also been quarantine­d at different places in Lucknow and in Delhi. He said no Tablighi Jamaat members in Lucknow were untraceabl­e now.

The officer added that 11 of the 12 hot spots in Lucknow were those where the Jamaatis were found staying and later some of them tested positive for Covid-19. He said the movement in these hot spots had been completely restricted. Even pedestrian were not allowed to come out of their houses. He said the connecting roads to these localities had been closed. He added that the sanitisati­on drives were being carried out daily to disinfect the localities. He said only sanitation workers, home delivery staff, health workers and police personnel were allowed to enter the sealed localities.
