WOMAN THROWS FIVE KIDS IN GANGA
VARANASI: A woman reportedly threw her five children, including a three-year-old boy, into the Ganga near Jahagira Ghat in Bhadohi district on Sunday following an altercation with her husband. All children are feared drowned, police said. Police said that Mridul aka Munna, a resident of Jahagira village, had an altercation with her wife Manju who reportedly asked money from him for meeting domestic expenses. After sometime, she threw children into river.
VARANASI:: A woman reportedly threw her five children including a three-year-old boy into Ganga river near Jahagira Ghat in Bhadohi district on Sunday following altercation with her husband. All children are feared drowned, police added.
Police said that Mridul aka Munna, a resident of Jahagira village, had an altercation with her wife Manju who reportedly asked money from him for meeting domestic expenses. After sometime, she along with her all five children reached the ghat and threw the children-Shiv Shankar (8), Keshav Prasad (3) and Puja aka Saraswati (6) and two others aged 10 and 12- into the river. She also jumped into the river with an intention to end her life but changed her mind later and swam out of the river. She kept sitting on the bank of river after throwing her children into it.
Some locals, who were working in the nearby fields, rushed to rescue the children but could not save them.
District magistrate Bhadohi Rajendra Prasad and superintendent of police Rambadan Singh reached the spot and inspected the spot. Two teams of divers were deployed to find out the bodies of the children.
Superintendent of police Rambadan Singh said that the divers had been deployed to find out the children. DM also confirmed that it was after quarrel, the woman threw her five children into the river.
According to some locals, the mental condition of woman was not sound but on the contrary her husband claimed that she was mentally fit.
Her husband said that why his wife took such an extreme step, was not known.
THE MENTAL CONDITION OF WOMAN WAS NOT SOUND BUT ON THE CONTRARY HER HUSBAND CLAIMED THAT SHE WAS MENTALLY FIT.
