80% of corona cases in UP reported from 192 hotspots
LUCKNOW: The number of hotspots in 15 districts of the state increased from 105 to 133 with reports of the fresh positive Covid-19 cases pouring in.
Additional chief secretary Awanish Kumar Awasthi said on Sunday that 417 (80%) of the 483 coronavirus cases have been reported from the total 192 hotspots (133 in 15 districts and 59 elsewhere) in the state.
Awasthi said police, district administration and health department teams have surveyed 1.58 lakh houses and 11 lakh people residing in these hotspots.
He said 342 coronavirus positive cases have been reported from these 133 hotspots. The health department has identified 3,244 suspected cases and 2,986 people have been quarantined, he said. In the remaining 26 districts where coronavirus cases have been found, the administration has identified 59 hotspots.
Approximately 1.44 lakh houses and 9 lakh people have been surveyed in these hotspots.
Seventy-five coronavirus positive cases have been reported from these 59 hotspots. The health department has quarantined 939 suspected people, he said. The district administration has been directed to implement the rules strictly in the hotspots and provide relief to the people with regular supply of essential commodities at their door steps, he said.
According to information provided by the district administration, 1,085 litres of milk was delivery by various agencies in the hotspots. To distribute vegetable and fruits, 1,803 vehicles have been deployed. A total of 1,447 provisional stores with 1,913 staff members are making doorstep delivery of essentials in the hotspots, he said.
The state government has issued order that without permission of the district administration no voluntary organisation will distribute food packets among the people. On Sunday, 12.27 lakh food packets were distributed in various districts from 1,975 community kitchens run by voluntary organisations and 908 kitchens run by the government agencies, he said.
The police have identified 2,461 Tablighi Jamaat members who had attended the Delhi congregation and quarantined 2,267 of them. Awasthi said 325 jamaatis who had come from foreign countries have been also quarantined. The police have lodged 44 FIRs and seized 259 passports from the foreigners, he said.
The police also lodged FIRs against 38,036 people on the charge of violating the lockdown orders; 2,144 vehicles have been seized and ₹6.31 crore penalty collected from the defaulters. Several people have been granted bail, he said.
